Chronic narcissistic and scapegoat abuse are not merely psychological wounds—they are direct assaults on the nervous system and metabolic function. These relational traumas activate neuroception, the subconscious process by which the nervous system detects safety or threat. When subjected to blame-shifting, projection, gaslighting, DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender), the body perceives not just emotional harm, but existential danger.
The vagus nerve, the main highway of the parasympathetic nervous system, becomes dysregulated. The ventral vagal complex—responsible for social engagement, safety, and co-regulation—is suppressed, while the dorsal vagal (freeze) and sympathetic (fight-flight) systems dominate. This disrupts gut-brain axis communication, increases intestinal permeability, and fuels systemic inflammation.
Gaslighting and projection erode self-trust, triggering chronic cortisol release. The body, in its wisdom, responds by entering metabolic conservation mode—slowing thyroid function, increasing estrogen to promote vigilance, and suppressing progesterone. This is not dysfunction—it is survival. But over time, it becomes Metabolic Type E: a state of biological overwhelm where the soul’s expression is silenced, and the body pays the price.
Metabolic Type E is a trauma-responsive metabolic state characterized by chronic stress, metabolic suppression, and hormonal imbalance. It features:
Kynurenine pathway activation
Chronically elevated cortisol
High gut serotonin
Low brain serotonin
Chronic estrogen dominance
Functional hypothyroidism—a biological echo of unresolved survival stress.
Health Conditions Rooted in Trauma-Responsive Metabolism (Metabolic Type E)
Chronic nervous system trauma and metabolic under-resourcing don’t just cause fatigue—they reshape biology, leading to complex, overlapping conditions. These are not random diseases, but coherent expressions of a system stuck in survival mode.
Even without recalled personal trauma, many carry ancestral imprints—subconscious beliefs and trapped emotions inherited epigenetically or absorbed energetically. Empaths, with porous energetic boundaries, are especially prone to internalizing others’ unresolved pain, beliefs, and emotional residues. These foreign energies act as invisible invaders, disrupting nervous system regulation and metabolic function. This makes energetic hygiene—clearing, grounding, and boundary-setting—essential for true healing.
Physical health conditions begin in the plasma layers of the soul—the energetic substrates of being—long before manifesting in the physical body. These subtle distortions reflect misalignments in soul-layer membranes, impairing the flow of source guidance and inner coherence. When reception is blocked, the body follows.
1. MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome)
Mechanism: Estrogen dominance directly triggers mast cell degranulation and histamine release. It also inhibits DAO, the enzyme that breaks down histamine, creating a self-amplifying loop. Gut dysbiosis and endotoxin further fuel activation.
Emotional Signature: “I’m under attack.” Survival energy is trapped—fear, grief, and hypervigilance become biologically encoded.
Abuse Tactic: Gaslighting – “You’re overreacting to my tone.”
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “I’m under attack but can’t prove it.” Trapped fear, hypervigilance, and somatic hyperarousal.
Key Insight: MCAS is not just an immune disorder—it’s a nervous system alarm system stuck in overdrive, amplified by estrogenic activity.
Belief: “I must stay alert—danger is everywhere.”
Emotion: Hypervigilance as protection; fear of collapse if guard is lowered.
Additional Insight: “My body is the enemy.” Shame and mistrust of biological responses.
2. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)
Mechanism: Estrogen dominance drives kynurenine pathway activation, diverting tryptophan from serotonin to neurotoxic quinolinic acid. This impairs mitochondrial function and ATP production. High cortisol and functional hypothyroidism worsen energy collapse.
Emotional Signature: “I can’t go on.” Learned helplessness and existential exhaustion—action feels futile.
Abuse Tactic: Blame-shifting – “Your fatigue is because you’re lazy.”
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “I can’t go on.” Shame and self-doubt amplify metabolic suppression.
Key Insight: Fatigue is not laziness—it’s metabolic shutdown to prevent collapse, sustained by estrogen-driven inflammation.
Belief: “Rest is dangerous.”
Emotion: Guilt around stillness; fear that pausing means disappearing.
Additional Insight: “I am broken beyond repair.” Hopelessness masks as fatigue.
3. Fibromyalgia
Mechanism: Estrogen dominance amplifies central sensitization and pain perception. It increases substance P and neuroinflammation while suppressing progesterone, which normally calms the nervous system.
Emotional Signature: “I’m broken.” The body feels like a prison—pain is constant, rest is elusive.
Abuse Tactic: Emotional neglect – Ignoring pain, minimizing suffering.
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “I’m broken.” Unseen grief, somatic despair, and internalized invalidation.
Key Insight: Fibromyalgia is not “all in the head”—it’s the nervous system screaming from unmet needs, with estrogen prolonging the alarm.
Belief: “My pain proves I exist.”
Emotion: Identity tied to suffering; fear of being forgotten if pain ends.
Additional Insight: “I can’t trust my emotions.” Alexithymia and emotional numbness protect against overwhelm.
4. OCHOs (Orthostatic Cerebral Hypoperfusion Syndrome)
Mechanism: Estrogen dominance impairs vascular integrity and promotes vasoconstriction. Combined with functional copper deficiency, this weakens blood vessels, reducing cerebral blood flow under upright stress.
Thought Form: “This weight of everybody else's expectations is too much.”
The body echoes a lifetime of being taken for granted, used, objectified, and punished for setting boundaries. There is a deep longing for connection, yet reaching out feels existentially dangerous.Underlying Belief: “I have to do it all myself, and nobody will help me.”
This belief, forged in early relational trauma, keeps the nervous system in freeze/collapse at the thought of asking for help or starting over.Abuse Tactic: DARVO – “You’re the one who’s abusive for asking for space.”
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “This weight of expectations is too much.” Trapped obligation, silenced longing, and fear of retaliation.
Emotional Landscape: These individuals are vastly loving, over-giving, and deeply empathic, yet feel unseen and unheard. They carry immense grief—not just for what was lost, but for the rest and re-creation that feels forever out of reach.
Key Insight: OCHOs reveals silent cerebral hypoperfusion—a brain starved of blood due to metabolic fragility and emotional burden encoded in the vasculature, sustained by estrogenic stress.
Belief: “If I speak up, I’ll be abandoned.”
Emotion: Swallowed rage; grief for love never received.
Additional Insight: “I’m invisible.” Longing for recognition buried under compliance.
5. POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
Mechanism: Estrogen dominance increases histamine, fluid retention, and sympathetic tone, worsening tachycardia and vascular instability upon standing.
Emotional Signature: “I can’t stand up.” Literally and metaphorically—fear of collapse prevents action.
Abuse Tactic: Projection – “You’re the one who’s unstable, not me.”
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “I can’t stand up.” Fear of collapse, loss of self-trust, and internalized instability.
Key Insight: POTS is not “anxiety”—it’s a body that can’t trust gravity or support, with estrogen dominance amplifying autonomic chaos.
Belief: “I can’t trust my own body.”
Emotion: Betrayal by self; terror of falling when no one will catch.
Additional Insight: “I don’t deserve support.” Fear of burdening others prevents asking for support or assistance.
6. Estrogen-Driven Cancers
Mechanism: Chronic estrogen dominance, especially unopposed by progesterone, drives cellular proliferation. Poor detoxification and high endotoxin increase carcinogenic metabolites.
Emotional Signature: “I can’t say no.” Boundaries were never safe—suppression becomes cellular.
Abuse Tactic: Boundary annihilation – “You owe me access to your body.”
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “I can’t say no.” Cellular suppression of self-protection, leading to unchecked growth.
Key Insight: Cancer is not just genetic—it’s metabolic and emotional terrain gone unchecked, with estrogen as the proliferative engine.
Belief: “My strength is threatening.”
Emotion: Suppressed power; fear of retaliation for taking space.
Additional Insight: “I must disappear to be safe.” Cellular rebellion echoes silenced voice.
7. ADHD
Mechanism: Estrogen dominance increases copper retention, which elevates norepinephrine and dopamine dysregulation. This creates hyperfocus amid distractibility—survival-mode attention.
Emotional Signature: “I’m too much and never enough.” Hypervigilance masks deep shame.
Abuse Tactic: Chronic invalidation – “You’re too sensitive, too much.”
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “I’m too much and never enough.” Shame masked as hyperactivity.
Key Insight: ADHD is often survival-mode attention, not a deficit—fueled by estrogen-driven neurochemical imbalance.
Belief: “I must perform to be loved.”
Emotion: Chronic overcompensation; emptiness beneath the noise.
Additional Insight: “I’m too much.” Repetitive negative thinking regulates unprocessed shame.
8. Degenerative Brain Conditions
Mechanism: Estrogen dominance, combined with kynurenine pathway activation, increases neurotoxic quinolinic acid and oxidative stress, accelerating neuronal damage.
Emotional Signature: “I’m disappearing.” The mind—the last refuge—begins to fail.
Abuse Tactic: Silencing – “Stop thinking so much, just obey.”
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “I’m disappearing.” Erasure of identity, cognitive dread, and existential isolation.
Key Insight: Neurodegeneration is not inevitable—it’s chronic metabolic stress in the nervous system, with estrogen dominance as a key accelerant.
Belief: “I’m losing myself.”
Emotion: Existential dread; mourning the mind’s fading light.
Additional Insight: “I don’t matter.” Cognitive decline mirrors lifelong emotional erasure.
9. Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Mechanism: Estrogen dominance amplifies immune reactivity and neuroinflammation. While estrogen can be protective in some phases, chronic dominance—especially with poor detoxification—fuels autoimmune attack on myelin.
Emotional Signature: “I can’t trust my own mind.” The body turns on itself—mirroring betrayal by those meant to protect.
Abuse Tactic: Soul annihilation – “You don’t even exist outside of me.”
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “I can’t trust my own mind.” Betrayal so deep, the body attacks itself.
Key Insight: MS is not just genetic—it’s relational trauma made biological, with estrogen dominance modulating immune dysregulation.
Belief: “I don’t deserve to feel safe.”
Emotion: Internalized punishment; numbness as survival.
Additional Insight: “I am unlovable.” Autoimmune attack mirrors relational betrayal.
10. Metabolic Syndrome & Type 2 Diabetes
-
Mechanism: Estrogen dominance drives insulin resistance through multiple pathways:
Reduces SHBG, increasing free, biologically active estrogen and androgens.
Activates GPER (G protein-coupled estrogen receptor), which upregulates calpain 2, leading to cleavage of the insulin receptor (IR) and impaired signaling.
Promotes exosome secretion containing calpain 2, further damaging insulin receptors.
Synergizes with high glucose to worsen IR cleavage and cellular insulin resistance.
Damages cell membranes via oxidized PUFAs, preventing glucose uptake—cells starve despite high blood sugar.
Soul-Level Reflection: Damaged cell membranes mirror distortions in soul-layer boundaries, impairing internal connection and reception of source guidance.
Core Belief: “I am damaged and I can’t receive.”
Abuse Tactic: Control through food – “You don’t deserve to eat unless you earn it.”
Triggered Belief & Emotion: “My needs are dangerous.” Suppressed self-worth manifests as metabolic dysregulation.
Key Insight: Insulin resistance is not gluttony—it’s the body bracing for scarcity in a world of perceived threat, with estrogen dominance directly impairing insulin’s ability to deliver glucose.
Belief: “I don’t deserve nourishment.”
Emotion: Shame around hunger; unworthiness of care.
Additional Insight: “I am defective.” Insulin resistance echoes belief in inherent brokenness.
What Actually Helps Someone in This State?
Don’t:
Say “Just leave” or “Why don’t you get help?”
Shame their attachment or delay
Flood them with advice or urgency
Take over or speak for them
Assume they're not trying to help themselves
Do:
Offer consistent, low-pressure presence—no expectations
Validate their fear: “It makes sense you feel unsafe. That’s your body protecting you.”
Support nervous system regulation: gentle walks, shared silence, rhythmic activities
Encourage somatic safety practices: breathwork, grounding, trauma-informed yoga
Help them reclaim agency in small ways: “Would you like tea? What color do you want?”
Connect them with trauma-informed care, not logic-based solutions
Healing isn’t about carrying them. They don't want to be carried. They want to stand on their own feet again, with dignity and autonomy.
It’s about witnessing, stabilizing, and reminding them they are still there—beneath the freeze.
When safety returns, so does sovereignty.
Reclaiming Your Nervous System
If you’ve lived through narcissistic or scapegoat abuse, your body is not broken—it is trying to survive. The freeze response is not weakness. It is the last act of protection when fight and flight were not safe.
To begin healing:
Ground in nature: Feel the earth beneath your feet. Let your nervous system orient to real, present safety.
Orient to your surroundings: Name five things you see, four you feel, three you hear. This gently brings you back from dissociation.
Regulate blood sugar: Eat metabolically safe, Peat-inspired meals—fruit, milk, honey, coconut oil—every 2–3 hours. A stable metabolism supports a stable mind.
Invite completion: Gently move your body—shake, stretch, dance. Let the energy that couldn’t move then, move now.
Your survival energy is not your enemy. It is your ally, waiting to be released.
Minerals to Look At: Zinc, Copper, and Heme Iron
Metabolic healing requires mineral integrity. While these are, by no means, the only minerals we need, in the context of estrogen dominance, these are crucial to look at, and I highly encourage having your levels accurately tested, including considering an HTMA test specifically for zinc : copper ratio.
-
Zinc : Copper Ratio (8:1 to 15:1):
Zinc supports progesterone synthesis, gut integrity, and detoxification.
Copper is essential—but excess (driven by estrogen, stress, and zinc deficiency) fuels anxiety, MCAS, and estrogen dominance.
A low Zn:Cu ratio is a hallmark of Metabolic Type E—high copper traps the system in sympathetic overdrive.
-
Heme Iron:
Critical for cytochrome P450 enzymes involved in hormone metabolism.
Deficiency impairs estrogen and progesterone synthesis.
Excess (especially non-heme iron) increases oxidative stress and inflammation.
Heme iron (from beef spleen, liver, red meat) is best absorbed and utilized—without spiking ferritin.
“Minerals are the spark plugs of metabolism. Without them, no hormone, no enzyme, no healing can ignite.”
